New Board Policy for Building Use by Scouts

"In keeping with the BOE Community Use of School Facilities manual, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are community groups, which are funded and scheduled by the Department of Recreation and Parks.  Therefore, as with all community groups, scouting leaders should be referred to Recreation and Parks' Facility Scheduling Office to apply for the use of school facilities."

"Our Department (Parks and Recs) is responsible for conducting a background check for each adult scouting leader prior to approving their use of school facilities.  Unfortunately, over the past two years, seven scouting leaders did not qualify to have care, custody or control of children due to their criminal past and were denied the use of school facilities."
