The Jones Elementary PTA is gearing up for another successful year.   We hope all families at Jones will join the PTA so that we can continue to support our children and school as we have done in the past.  Last year, through our 3 levels of membership, we raised about $6,100.00.  County resources are limited so it is necessary for parents to enhance school activities in many ways; fundraisers, membership/activity fees and volunteering make it possible. Here is how we support our school:

  • Defray Cost of Field Trips

  • Birthday Book Club – Every child selects a book that has a bookplate imprinted with their name that enhances the Media Center's collection

  • Exciting Cultural Arts Assemblies throughout the year

  • Classroom Enrichment – Green Schools Program,  School-wide Art Project

  • Supplies for Classroom Teachers

 

Only Two Major Fundraisers.  The PTA will conduct two major fundraisers this school year: the Wrapping Paper Sale, which occurs in September, and the Math-a-Thon, which will kick off in March, Square One Art and the Fall Festival add some additional monies to our budget; but not contributing significant revenue, they are considered a service as requested by many parents.

 

The PTA Basic Membership - $10.  This is the traditional PTA membership fee.  PTA encourages families contributing at the basic family membership level to participate in the fundraising activities of the PTA throughout the year.

 

The PTA Family Membership - $30.  Instead of the basic membership an additional $20 contribution is an alternative means of supporting PTA activities for families that are not likely to participate in fundraising activities. 

 

The Jones PTA Benefactor Membership.  Every contribution by a family or business above the Family Membership Fee will be recognized in the Jones Elementary School Newsletter.   Benefactors will be listed at the $50, $75 and $100+ levels.

 

This year, PTA is soliciting special contributions for a special PTA Scholarship Fund, to support students of limited financial means who wish to participate in the outstanding after-school enrichment programs and other PTA-sponsored benefits.

 

Services provided by PTA:

  • PTA Membership Directory Each year a PTA membership directory is provided for the families at Jones.  To be included join PTA and complete the membership application form.
  • PTA Communications through Internet Message Board Important communications, reminders of school wide events, and copies of PTA minutes are posted on an Internet message board to all PTA members.
  • Extended Day Programs PTA volunteers organize a full range of programs to enhance your child's education.  These programs occurring before and after school include Foreign Language, Chess, Mad Science, Art, and Jr. Great Books among other offerings.  PTA makes no profit from these programs.
  • Workshops Speakers and events helping parents better understand their children's education, health and well being are planned in conjunction with PTA meetings.
  • Social Events/ Hospitality  PTA volunteers sponsor various social events throughout the year including Boohoo Yahoo Bagels, Walk at School Luncheon, Fall Festival, Muffins with Mom, Donuts with Dad, Snow Cone Social, Grandparents Day, Teacher's Luncheons, Welcome Events, and more.
  • Walking Club/ Recess Supplies In order to promote physical exercise PTA supports a nationally recognized walking club, provides field day refreshments and purchases balls, chalk and jump ropes for recess.
  • Yearbook PTA volunteers design an annual yearbook for students to remember their years at Jones well into the future and offer it for purchase to parents at a nominal fee to cover the out of pocket printing costs alone.  
  • Advocacy PTA leadership works with members of the Board of Education addressing concerns that parents have with their student's education.
  • Support Student Government/ Outreach Programs/ Community Relations
