Reading Fair

November 13-21

Jones Elementary will sponsor a school-wide Parent and Child Reading Fair in celebration of National Children’s Book Week in November. We encourage all students, with their family’s help, to participate in this optional event. Our goal is to provide families with an opportunity to take an active and positive role in their child’s growth in reading as a leisure time activity.

Students who plan to participate should select a book (fiction or nonfiction) to read at home. Books may be selected from the Jones Media Center, public library, or personal collection. Teachers and staff will be happy to assist with the selection of an appropriate title for the child’s age and reading level.

With their parents’ help, students will then create a project based on the book. A packet will be distributed soon with details and project ideas. Creativity is encouraged! Feel free to create a project that is not on our list. Projects will be due November 13-15.
